Boost your Tox results with a VI Peel

Fall has come to Santa Cruz! September and October are two of my favorite months in this area. The fall has always been a natural time of reflection for me. For whatever reason I’ve always been stuck on the school Calendar and September has always felt more like the new year to me than January 1st. The “June Gloom” has rolled away and clear skies, crisp morning and midday sunshine prevail. The kids are back in school and the flow of daily life is settling back into its usual rhythm.

With that reflection comes resolutions. Maybe its that I’ve decided to try and exercise more or drink less or both! Whatever it is it usually focuses on some aspect of my self-care that has been pushed to the wayside during a summer filled with driving kids all over creation, prying comatose teenagers out of bed and a few too many white wines enjoyed with friends in too much sun and not enough sunscreen!

This fall the softer autumn light has made me reflect on the sun damage I’ve done to my skin. That is why the fall is the perfect time for a skin peel!

What is a skin peel? Sounds terrible doesn’t it? In reality it is one of the best things you can do for your skin! Our skin is the largest organ in our body serving so many critical functions. Primarily it is the first line of barrier defense our bodies have. Fighting off any number of harmful environmental attacks on our body, including the sun, infections, toxins and other environmental agents trying to find their way in.

Our skin is constantly turning over, producing new cells. The skin on our face turns over every 28-40 days. This process sheds the dead skin cells and replaces them with new ones. It is a process that helps prevent blemishes, removes excess oil, clogged pores and reduces wrinkles and fine lines. What an amazing part of our body!

A skin peel essentially “superchargers” this process and enhances the healing and rejuvenating effects of skin turn over by getting deeper into the skin layer, where cumulative damage is stored and held, and drives out the deeper sun pigment, oil and toxins!

One Point Six Aesthetics is very excited to offer a range of facial and body skin peels from Vitality Institute. The VI Peel series is a collection of truly mid-layer chemical skin peels that are safe for any skin type! Originally designed by a dermatologist to help his daughter with her severe cystic acne, the VI Peel is a safe, painless peel that can offer amazing results in just 7 days. Again, safe for all skin types, the VI peel can be used on folks who may not be laser candidates for fear of causing hyperpigmentation.

The other amazing benefit of the VI peel series is that they enhance the effects of other treatments such as Dysport and Microneedling. With Dysport, or other neuromodulator, clinical trials of combination therapy with a VI Peel on the same day showed a 60% decrease in wrinkles compared to 37% with neuromodulator alone. Similarly there was a 59% decrease in sun damage and a 70% increase in skin tone and texture.

I recently tried this ToxBooster treatment myself and the results are phenomenal! I was pretty red for the first 2 days I won’t lie and then on day 3 my face peeled taking so much hyperpigmentation and dead skin with it! Here are my before & afters!

Before                                                                                 Seven days after Dysport + VI Peel Precision Peel

The VI Peel also enhances microneedling. The microneedling process is a great way to breakup deeply held hyperpigmentation. Coupled with a VI peel 4 weeks later to draw out that pigment the two therapies together can achieve amazing results.

So as you are settling into your fall routine don’t forget about yourself. Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and check out our latest offerings to “supercharge” your self care!
